Brief
Design an app to streamline commute experience in Mumbai
Where I…
...reimagined the daily commuter experience by aggregating complex transit infrastructure into seamless, end-to-end journeys.
Context
Next Stop envisions a multi-collaborated platform acting as a joint initiative between BMC, Railways, Metro, Bus, Rickshaw, and Taxi Unions, aggregating all public-facing transport infrastructure into one platform for a seamless commuter experience
It's a local commute application for Mumbai that provides commuters with multimodal route suggestions for public transport based on time and cost efficiency.
Problem
Mumbai is a bustling city of over 20 million people that faces major public transport challenges, including extreme overcrowding, congestion, and delays.
With over 10 million people relying on local trains daily, commuters face massive experiential gaps.
Minor inconveniences like faulty indicators, unpredictable train delays, and poor last-mile connectivity cause immense fatigue, anxiety, and severely impact the work-life balance and productivity of daily commuters.
Solution

Multimodal Route Suggestions
The app suggests optimal travel routes from point A to point B involving multiple modes of transport. It categorizes suggestions based on user preferences, allowing them to choose routes that are "Efficient," "Cheap," or "Comfortable".

Unified Ticketing & Live Updates
Aggregates real-time schedules, live updates, and direct ticket bookings for buses, local trains, and metros entirely natively, eliminating the need to juggle multiple apps.
End-to-End Guided Navigation
Every anchor point in the commute is visually guided through clear instructions and a live navigation map. The app effortlessly manages first and last-mile connectivity by prompting users to take a short walk or book a ride (Taxi/Auto/Bike) exactly when they need it to catch their next transit connection.
Outcome
By addressing the experiential gaps of traveling from point A to point B, Next Stop reimagines the human experience for daily commutes in Mumbai. It successfully eliminates the minor inconveniences and everyday struggles that come with navigating a heavily overburdened infrastructure.
